Another spur of the moment surprise excursion, this time to the Annapolis Valley about an hour from home. This is Ron's birthplace and home for 23 years before he was whisked away to the big city by you know who!
We took a few trips to this canal ... last year because it's just far enough away to make a pleasant day trip.
The guys have their routine
stopping first for eats at the Evangeline Inn in Grand Pre, an historical Acadian settlement.

I wait patiently in the car with the windows rolled down and always have fingers crossed for a breeze. Needless to say, if there is no breeze then off to the canal with "eats" later.
After stuffing themselves, out they come saying
"Hey Sophie, are you ready for that swim in the canal?"
"Hey Sophie, are you ready for that swim in the canal?"
"Ah, yes, would be the answer"
So, off we go over the hill and down through the Gaspereau Valley passed vineyards and farms. An idyllic drive with fields of wildflowers, sheep, apple orchards sliced through the core by the river... a place for "tubing" and sheer joy.
Then, all of the sudden, there it is, my swimming hole. Sometimes, we have it all to ourselves and other times we share it with other dog walkers and swimmers.
