~~ JUST CAN'T GET ENOUGH ~~

This is my view today
high up
on
Hawkin's Hill
looking over Lawrencetown Beach

The climb begins and with precision
I sniff every track
every piece of grass
and

work my way passed last years cattails
sticking up so stiff
managing to survive another one of our winters.

The incline is immediately evident
so we veer off at the 1st path
instead of taking the sharp inclined path
which I used to fly up
a few years ago.

Up on top of the hill
tucked away
erected by one or more loved ones
a statue for Katie.
~
I sniff
I approve
and
I continue on.

Heading back
along the ridge Porter's Lake looms to my right.
A slight melting of ice
gives me hope for an early spring.

On the return trek we reach the top of the incline
I spoke of above.
I see my car parked along Hwy #207
knowing that everything
has been
worth every sniff
every crunching step through snow
and
knowing
I "just can't get enough"
of my world
no matter what the season has to offer.

MONUMENTAL HURDLE PT. 2

We have reached the top of the hill and Sophie knows exactly
where to go even if she hasn't been up here
since early last year.

I follow Jim and Sophie
sure-footed in our ice grippers
with the cliff view teasing us as we get closer and closer.

Peace Out to everyone!
We three realize that this is a
MONUMENTAL HURDLE
for me.
I haven't climbed this hill since my heart attack
and
never thought I would ever be up here again.

Sophie keeps the pace up
aiming directly for the edge of the cliffs.
As I have said many times
she has no fear!

See what I mean!
~ as calm as a cucumber ~
(oh BTW ~ Jim's school kids used to call him Mr. Cucumber)
I digress again!

Sophie Honey please give us a break, won't you!?
Please come back from the edge.
Oh my my healing heart!
Winks!!

A short video slightly noisy
but will give you an idea
of  the cliff height
and Sophie's lack of fear.

Finally, there is our car along side the highway.
I really am glad to see it
because it means that if anything should hiccup
then I can  be home pronto.

There you are
"My Nemesis"
I conquered you, again!

MONUMENTAL HURDLE PT. 1

Do you see
this grade of land?
this hill?
this mountain?
Oh I could go on!
Oh you want me too!
OK then ~~~ •*¨*•♫♪

Do you see Sophie and Jim captivated by scents
for HRH
and by the surrounding view
for Jim?

I digress ~~ this is Jim's view,
a completely frozen bog area
so frozen that it may not thaw until summer.
Seriously, you never know!?!

and Sophie has reached the base of the hill
and MAGNET-NOSE has discovered this ~~

the complete likeness of  an ELEPHANT'S NOGGIN
so much looking and feeling like a pre-historic mastodon.
But alas no scent,
move on!

So up the hill she continues ~~

looking over her shoulder to see the frozen bog
and checking out Lawrencetown Beach
for any chance to maybe go for a swim.
Not yet honey!

Still building on the point of all this story ~~
is Jim following the ice covered path
with a frozen Porter's Lake gleaming in the background.

Time to take a picture of this he decides ~~

 because even if it's winter
and freezing cold
and slippery slidey
and so very blue
rarely do we see such beauty
unless of course you climb up this hill
and
well, just soak it in!

The beach below doesn't appear friendly yet.
The sand has not returned to cover the rocks
and the green grasses and flowers have not covered the landscape.

Yet none of this means anything because
well just look at the SMILE on Jim's face.
Something's up!
Something's important!
Something's Monumental!

Come Back and Find Out!

Who's Flying Now?

...at the end of Lawrencetown Beach is a rather large hill
called Hawkin's Hill
which we haven't scaled in a couple of months. So.....

...we headed up and with the fog bank hugging the beach and lowland areas we thought that the view from the top would be pretty much 'nothing'....

...the lake on the east side of the trail is Porter's Lake and was somewhat visible with wisps of fog floating by...

...with Ron lagging behind, I decided to hurry him up and charged down the hill to give him more support...you can do it!

...here I come watch out...YES I WAS FLYING...such freedom and so I continued closing in on Ron with tongue just a waggin'...

...since I FLEW down the hill, I figured I could FLY up the hill...SEE!

...this view was my undoing...Look but don't leap...I know what the guys were saying over and over again!

...just too steep to go down for a swim....I love water and to give this up was so disappointing....

...with most of the lake visible now we headed back...

...we trudged down the hill passed the swamp...you can see I'm on a leash...no chance of diving in today....next time for sure...

...the surfer's were visible now with the lifting of the fog bank...I'ts always the best time because the air smells sweet with salt as well as the new spring/summer grasses...

....speaking of which, Jim taught me how to make beautiful music with a blade of grass...SEE!

...nothing to it, he says, next time....I've got some sniffin' to do....

...and what I mean by 'sniffin', is a Doberman I could sniff from miles away..truly!

...we finally made it back to the boardwalk, had a short rest and proceeded to the car.

Once again, we had a great adventure topped with the blue, blue sky; how soon we forget the gloomy grey foggy day. The return home to the backyard was so welcoming. I love my home!
