GOING DOWN THE ROAD

 Seriously getting out on the road

really opens your eyes 

to new and fresh

views

so put on your caps

and 

allow me ~~

in the middle of the province

on roads just off the main drag of everyday life 

I found these homes, abodes and four legged creatures

old weathered barn wood

in many forms 

from actual buildings to farm carts 

to seeing the age and weather worn stories behind these beauties

sensing the speed of the moment 

in this moment of calm

wondering who built this building 

fitting perfectly into the setting

remembering the adage

that when cows lay down

that the weather will become rainy or at least cloudy

 half way there to either rain or sun

horses many of them feeding in delight

transfixed on this moment

a quick dash across the road in front of us

'a deer' 

and

'going down the road'

as literal as 

can be expected

I include this 2011 trailer of a sequel to the original 1970 movie

called "Going Down The Road"

CONTINUING DOWN THE ROAD ~~~~

With the canal swim under my Doodle Belt 

we headed off down one of the other Gaspereau valley roads and ~~~

ended up here on a huge farm called 

Gaspereau Valley Fibres Farm Wool Shop.

As you can see below there are many sheep ready to be sheered 

and 

 these 2 cute black lambs

huddling together 

as we poked our noses around the corner

of the entrance.

I think they are used to nosy photographers and Doodles!

The piece de resistance was the humongous wool shop

across the yard from the sheep.

Jim marched right in and headed over to the displays

to check out the offerings and to take pictures.

Surprise surprise!

Just look at the colours and offerings of merino wools.

more to touch and hold 

and to decide whether to go with heather colours

or pales or ~~~~

however by this time Jim's eye spied this

unbelievable Icelandic Sheepskin pelt

for a mere $300!!

mighty soft isn't it Jim!!

As we ventured from the farm and onto the road

this horse was giving us the eye,

but late afternoon was reminding us 

it was time to head back home ~ ~

so with that all under my belt 

from paying respects to Ron's GF, GM and Mother Tommy

to walking the Gaspereau Canal

to swimming in the canal

to driving down the country roads

to discovering sheep and lambs

to touching so much wool

I can honestly say that my world is complete

with love and peace.

  I got to visit all my friends

~ doggies, horses and humans ~

alike at the daycare on the hill.

At the end of my stay today,

Owen (left) and 2 look-a-likes 

greet Ron and Jim as they come to pick me up.

Isaac gives them a woof

and

says everything's OK

and that I'm allowed to go home.

 This amply full little birdhouse

 of warm feathers and such

seems to add to the feeling here ~

a feeling of serenity amongst the canines and ~ 

and horses,

Tony, Tallen and Topaz

always keeping their eyes open for me

because I can get mighty frisky with them.

They just ignore me though.

The sun is setting as I mosey to the car

and curl up in the backseat

realizing that I am so fortunate to be able 

to take this all in one more time.

Never take anything for granted, folks.

NEVER !!

ACE + SOPHIE = FULL HOUSE

Halloween Friday afternoon

bright, blue skies, fresh air

and smiles

ACE, Brynn's new puppy comes to visit for the 1st time.

The thing is I'm at daycare down the road so,

they came to pick me up 

and I felt it was my duty to welcome them all.

Brynn and Ace were heading for the corralled pasture ~

Psst: This little buzzing bumble bee took care of me all day.

Love bumble bees!

continuing on ~ Brynn and Ace had their eyes on Topaz and Tony.

 Nose kisses and socialization

start them young and you'll have a well-rounded doggy!!

We headed for MacDonald Hill after leaving day care.

ACE had never been here before so,

I did the obligatory intros and discussions of vistas then,

played uncontrollably while holding Mr. Orangie.

ACE is one active pupster,

just like me 7 years ago.

(leave me alone I just played super hard all day from 9 am to 4pm

with many doggies ~ I'm zonked)

All in all ACE put a smile on everyone's face including mine

when Mr. Orangie managed to slip out of my mouth

and

ACE tried to pick it up.

I'VE RETURNED!!!

It's Friday and it's the much anticipated return to my 

SUPER DOODLE DAYCARE

high on the hill

above the fields and ocean.

Hey Mary!

Do you want to dance?

I bet you haven't danced all summer.

Fox Trot ~ Rumba ~ Jive

You choose and I'll fall into line.

Oh a "line dance" !

Right on!

This is my home away from home.

Me, likey !!

Fields ~ plenty of fences and tall green grass to eat and roll in.

AAaahhhhh!!

My monster friend is here.

Been waiting all summer too.

I know my place around this giant.

and above all the ocean beckons,

maybe I'll play Mr. Orangie

down on the beach.

Haven't forgotten how to do that,

since I practice everyday!

Let's get this show on the road!!

FROM A HORSE'S POV

Ambling yet focused inching her way up the driveway to daycare ~~ 

Sophie shrieks ~~

"Oh Mary I haven't seen you for a whole week!

Do you want to dance?"

"What is it with dogs anyway?

Can't they ever be calm for just once", says Topaz.

"You would think this view would be enough to relax

those canines when they arrive here."

"But I stare in bewilderment ~~

just like my buddy on the other side of the building."

"Just a month ago 

Sophie was a super calm DOODLE GPS-ing that clump of grass 

while I sniffed my barren patch."

"I think she has come along way 

since her super young days

nipping at my hooves 

without fear, at all"

"I have stories that I won't even tell Mary,

just between me and Sophie Girl."

The Dads took off and visited the exhibition

at the museum in Halifax ~~

all about The Wild Horses of Sable Island. < click

I know I'd be super keen on this photo montage

because well, I think it's self-explanatory.

I guess Jim was quite impressed with the number of photos

and the feeling of awe and serenity

that overtook him and Ron.

The exhibit is on until October 13

and should not be missed

(especially if you are a horse lover).
