DAWN OF A NEW YEAR ~ 2015 !!

After eating a special brunch
called a Hangover Brunch
on New Year's Day
we ventured out to the boardwalk to walk off the meal.

Come on you two,
if you are going to leave me in the car
while you eat
salt cod benny's
~~ YUM ~~
then you better have some energy
to get moving,
New Years resolutions and all.

The snow squall of an hour ago
beared down on us
and
disappeared as fast as it came.
Blue skies everywhere.

Halifax gleamed in the background
because the skies had opened up
and
let the sun shine through.

This ol' rusty structure stuck out
like a sore thumb
but really suited the place just fine.

The white sand isn't sand
but snow.
The tide is coming in and the white will be gone before you know it.
We are heading over there to Halifax
very soon to Jim's brother's Dennis' place.

But before we head over I have to check out absolutely
everything that moves on this boardwalk.
Makes sense to me.

The other side of this spit of land really shows you
the snowfall amounts.

So before I knew it
we had completely circled the boardwalk
and
were heading for the car
and
so much fun
at the New Years get-together.

WIND

The wind is what makes me move
makes me so energetic
makes me feel alive!

(and sometimes brings out my stoic nature)

but more often than not I'm hopping

but not so much when I'm looking out the side window during a rain event

yet high on the cliff looking over the Atlantic Ocean I tread carefully

realizing it could be cold rain like recently

or even the wind that slips up over me
as I duck behind the gazebo at the park

even the frigid wind that slips effortlessly over the frozen pond
on my way to the beach

but most of all
it's the spring / summer / fall breezes
that make me feel calm and relaxed.

Carving out my little path in this world
to share with all of you
just brings joy to my heart.

PEACE TO ALL!

2 WEEKS INTO 2014

It's been almost 2 weeks since the New Year started
and we've had every kind of weather
the weather person can throw at us,
from
 ~~~ the obvious SNOW ~~~
"full on can't see 2 feet in front of you" stuff to
spitting squalls
blanketing the city
as we crossed the bridge to
RAIN
~~ oh yes the wet stuff ~~
 moisture soaking your winter clothes to
sea mist rising along the shore's edge to
hard as cement ice surrounding our bench at the park to
frigid mornings letting us know that the air is so much colder than the water to
clouds emptying SNOW or RAIN at their whim to
trail after trail ready for trekking / snowshoeing / cross country skiing to
watching for winter surfers masked by the spray of the waves to
 attempting road ice walking or scuffing whatever works to
waking up on a high hill to watch the barrage of waves pummel our beaches to
finally getting some protective PURPLE BOOTIES
because my toes started to freeze to
 watching the hustle & bustle beauty in the heart of the city
caused by lower temps to
 smelling the salt air
the crisp salt air to
hiding from the crisp salt air and Jim to
just knowing we can hop in our jalopy
and be at this spot in an instant
to refresh ourselves
and
just feel the wonder of our small spot on this planet.
STORMY WEATHER
Safe and Sound, I am!
Yes, I have the back seat to myself
and with the rains pouring down
 the driving is somewhat slower than usual.
This cloud bank that we are heading into
looks like it is going to engulf
the roadway to the bridge span.
The closer we get to the center span
(181 feet (55 m) above sea level)
the windier and slipperier
the driving becomes.
The darkness is surrounding us
and everyone knows to hold onto their wheels
because "white-knuckle" driving
is the norm on the bridge
in this kind of weather.
Oh doggy, we are off the expanse!
Phew, I really don't like stormy weather
when crossing over the harbour.
Simple as that!
EVEN JUST A BIT OF "OODLE"
Just as I snuggled into the front seat
on the passenger side
getting ready for
my 1st Doodle Driver Training lesson ~~~
I peered out the window and noticed this Doodle tied to the tree
waiting patiently for Mr/Ms human to come out of Starbucks.
Doesn't seem fair
because it's beginning to rain
and I mean rain ~~~
see what I mean
I am kind of worried about my DoodleFriend ~~
the sun is going down and the streets are wet and messy
I always worry about my Friends,
no matter if they have a bit of
"OODLE"
in them or not!!
SIDE BY SIDE
Left Right
Left Right
Stay Together
Nice and Tight !
Walking in the city is a challenge,
but it's one that I can handle ~~~
after I try to sniff
a wall
a window
a corner
a parking meter
a granite step
a new friend's foot
Thank Goodness that's all over
now I can walk freely in the park
with my buddy!
