Rainbow Haven!

I went to a new beach today called Rainbow Haven Beach!

This is the typical boardwalk we use to discover our new beach.

OK guys, I'm first to arrive and the beach is all ours.
Throw that ball!

So smooth...that's how I like it!

The waves are different here.
They are long, wide and very fast.

Now I want to come back to this place again.
We don't live very far from the beach.
It's just that it takes three times as long to get here
as compared to Lawrencetown Beach.

I dry off somewhat on the trek back to the car.
I ususally make sure the sand is all through my hair.
Never heard of a dry and sandless dog at the beach.
Have you!?

Just an add on...
Ron wanted you to see the Bayberry bushes with their bayberries.

The shrubs were very healthy here.
It appeared to be due to the protection from the beach and forest nearby.
The berries were quite big.
Fun to pick some and crush them in your hands.
Sweet savor and long lasting.

Blood Red and Chilling Eyes!

I can't believe my eyes!
The wet, blood red, colour is beautiful
but chilling at the same time.

Look very closely
at each picture.

Keep staring....
at the wet, dripping leaves.

I see it staring at me!
I've got goosebumps
running up and down my spine!

It's you, Sophie.....!
I'm not looking into your eyes!
This is very scary, wary!

Sleep Walking Dog!

Thought you all might want
a snicker, a laugh, an 'oh no, check this out'.
I can't stop chuckling every time I watch this.
You'd never catch me doing this....really!

OK...I'm guilty.
.....from laughing too much....!

Who Loves Sophie?

Yeah, who is it that really loves Sophie?
Well, Jim certainly does....
because a good ear licking is always welcome!

and so does Ron...
because a good hug is always free
and so 'I got you' enjoyable!

Mirror Image

An unexpected delight on the beach...!
This sky was truly amazing...
It brought out my friskiness!

Always love it when the sky is so big and ominous!
The mirror image just adds to the peace and grandness.

My First Swim Ever!

It's the summer of 2007
and I am only 6 months old.
Since it was a lazy morning, we decided to stroll down the gravel road to the bay.
Little did I know what was in store for me...

I began sniffing the area 'cause it was all new and fresh for me.

Jim seemed to be interested in something so I bounded over to see what was up.

He had sticks in his hand and guess what he did?
Yup! He tossed them into the water.
Do you think I could resist this?
Nope, so in I charged.

Little did I know that I was swimming.
It was second nature to me,
since I'm 1/2 Lab and 1/2 Poodle.

I even swam out for the plastic water bottle with a stone in it.
Now, that intrigued me especially the sound coming from the thing.

Here I come....watch out!

This exercise deserved a 'calm down' stroll along the shore.

Finally, back up the gravel road and passed the cemetery we sauntered.
I was pretty proud of myself
and I think the guys were too!

Sunny Morning!

As I stood outside near the Weeping Mulberry
drenched in the morning sun,
word had it Marilyn, Jim's sis was coming for a visit
and a walk on the beach!

The guys weren't pulling my leg...
There she was taking a tour through my garden.
Let me out there, please!
She needs a good sniff and lick ;-) !

Before I knew it,
we jumped into the car
and headed to the beach.
Now that's good decision making!

OK, Ron, is this posey enough!
It's cold and windy for Pete's sake! brr,brr

This was a beautiful walk this morning.
I had to round them up continually!
You may see some tails wagging in the grass
as I mentioned in my last blog to Houndstooth.
(Look real hard and if you pretend you'll see them)

One important part of my walk this time of year is
the feast of rosehips.
I discovered I liked these last year.
The long growing season this year
has produced some mighty huge berries....yesss!

This part of the 'follow the leader' walk is my fave
and it captures the feeling of
'sunny, cold and windy'
...my kind of weather.
So refreshing!

Hand Signals!

Needless to say, this is one of my fave running fields at the beach!

Up over the grassy dune I go....

Over the rise...

to see the North Atlantic churning and making the sand disappear into the ocean....

Jim and I look out over the waters wondering when the flakes of white stuff will start...

Let's not go there....besides we have to get back home...

I hear some excited waves along the boardwalk.
I must check them out!

There now I feel better.
Oh is that Jim calling me.
Always, hurry up, around here!

Oh he's doing that hand signal thing again.
It means 'COME'.
I see ya, I see ya!

I kinda like that signal stuff!
