Sick, I am.

It's not my tummy that is all wonky,
still don't feel like eating this boney.

It has everything to do with crystals in my urine.
Sounds like a C & W song,
I  hear ya!

I'm on a super special diet
plus antibiotics
plus a cream for my woowoo
plus waiting patiently
(where have I heard this before)

Six weeks of this special diet
and then
I'll know if I'm back to normal.

This middle age stuff
ain't no fun!

Time to snooze again,
the antibiotics
make me
woozy!!

  4. Well join the club, just last month the cat had crsytals in his wee wee and gave Pat a $1000 vet bill. Now the pain in the arse won't eat the wet food what so ever, tried raw, won't eat it either. Likes his dry, which causes them, sigh.

    1. What a conundrum!

That's exactly how I remember the ol' kitty kitty crystal scenario. We used have a sweetie named Rita, we were very careful not allow this crystal thingie happen to her. So when the vet said Sophie had them I took a second "WHA" ~~ you're kidding?

She on a special food now. The vet said that crystals are very prevalent now. So now we have to figure out the causes and be more careful!!

Hope your kitty is doing better and realizes that her allowance may be cut back for awhile ~~~ winks!

      Ron

    2. The causes are all the crap they put in dry food. If you do a little research, you will find the "Grain Free" crap they spout really means nothing much. Better than some yes, but still better is relative.

And watch that vet crap too, made the cat even worse off, everything from the runs to brittle feeling fur. Their garbage is some of the worst around, but they aren't taught any different because the pet food companies only want money.

Got him on vet's best urinary track pills, cranberry is supposed to be goo for it. He'll eat them once in a while. Also ordered elk velvet antler from royal elk, for them and me after researching it. So hopefully that works, still watching him, took him a month to get back to normal, hopefully sophie bounces back faster.

    3. Thanks for this Pat.

Sophie has been on the Raw Food Diet for almost all her life. We first started with kibble and man did she stink. So we researched and decided to try the Raw Food system. She loved it and she no longer smelled, had no problem eliminating etc.

The thing is we don't understand how/why she got the crystal problem. There must be other variables/factors that cause this is animals. I always thought it was a cat problem but now know it isn't.

We will only keep Sophie on kibble for the 6 weeks suggested by the vet then back to Raw Stuff.

Re: Cranberry ~~~ can you use pills and liquid too? If Sophie has to be on this too then I'll try any form.
Elk Velvet Antler ~~ What is this used for?

    1. That stone word was brought up but the vet thought I wasn't at that level. So I'm on a 6 week diet of "Urinary SO" by Medi-cal which doesn't have wheat etc. We were so surprised with this happening. Of course, we are like investigators Sherlock Holmes starting to figure out how this all came about.

OK who wants to be Watson and assist in this murky world of Urinary Tract infection?

      Delete
  16. Oh no, sweet Sophie! I am so sorry! I've heard that's very painful. My kitty Niles has the same problem. Our water has lots of minerals, so he gets distilled water and eats a special food from the vet's office (Urinary SO). It's been about 4 years since his last episode, and he's as healthy as can be. He's 15 now.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Oh Terry, Urinary SO is what Sophie started this morning. Now tell me if she liked it? Oh yes, she gobbled that down without a problem. You mentioned minerals in the water? So is too many not good for the animal? I'm definitely looking into this! We are on a well with many minerals.

Niles sounds like a lovely kitty, 15 years old! Our kitty Rita lived that long. Do miss her a lot. I know Sophie would be very upset to hear this because she has learned to "LIKE" kitties yet. Maybe some day!!
