Peace in the Woods

This small stream/brook
is locating down the road from our house.

Everytime Ron and I go for a walk
we slip passed it because the road
has plenty of fast moving cars whizzing by.

Today Ron ventured off the road into the woods
and came back with this small video.

Peace as always!

  2. It is peaceful, but we can hear the cars whizzing by. Glad your dad decided to make a detour today.

Figured this video would give you an idea of our woodsy area nearby!

    1. We had grow a massive hedge on the front of our property to block the noise of cars. It helps a bit, but would like more quiet if possible.

  4. That's a very fast stream, Sophie. Obviously not a paw dipping one.

    1. I think we'd get very wet, very quickly if we dipped our paws in this stream. Don't think I'll tempt fate!!

  6. It's lovely - nothing beats that sound. But now I need the bathroom! BTW in Scotland one of the few Gaelic crossover words widely used is "BURN" for brook. Thus endeth todays lesson!

    1. Thanks Craig for the Gaelic ~~ BURN ~~ we have Gaelic spoken in Cape Breton. I am not at all versed in this language, but we had a songstress and fiddler sing in Gaelic about 15+ years ago which hit the pop charts locally. Ashley & Mary Jane Lamond CLICK

      Enjoy!!

    2. I enjoyed the video thanks Ron. I don't speak Gaelic, not many people do any more so the language is somewhat under threat. So it's good when a Gaelic word makes it into mainstream conversation.

  7. Great video -- there's just something so peaceful about the sound of running water. And P.S. -- love that stepping stone! Is it in your garden/yard?

    1. Yes the stone is in the garden. We found it about 20 years ago, crafted by a local artisan in the Annapolis Valley. We have forgotten what it means, wouldn't you know. I'll search now that it has me intrigued!

    1. Hi Annie!
If you lived nearby I could teach you how to be very careful with this babbling brook. It's quite fast now, but some day soon it will be less hectic and easy to manouevre!
