Bright, clear, crisp and minus 24 Celsius (-11F )
Funny there wasn't anybody around as Ron and I
walked the park today.
Jim had some errands to do
so we managed to do the trek on our own.
We kept moving fast and I was super frisky!
High on the hill overlooking Halifax Harbour
all you can see is a lighthouse in the distance
and a huge expanse of super cold water.
There's no chance,
like they did on Jan 1.
Even the ducks know better...!
stay close
stay warm!
Brrrrrrrr! Now that's getting pretty chilly!
ReplyDeleteCome visit me Sophie, it's not warm but maybe at -1C it would be an improvement. But... Um... We don't have any snow, hmm.
That air looks crisp!
Lick!
Crisp and FRESH...and no chance of hanging around to dawdle....Sophie Tophie was full of beans in the video today....such a snooky pooky dooky doodle she is!
DeleteLICK!!!
You know i's cold when the ducks won't go in the water!!
ReplyDeleteExactly.....nuts I tell you!
DeleteOhh cold....we have sometimes cold like that...but now its very warm for the season. Beautiful view over the harbour....
ReplyDeleteYou have to run a lot Sophie so you dont get cold....
Please share some of you warmth please....last year it was +4 C.....El Nino effect always changes our weather!
DeleteSophie, you are one brave girl, and your Dad, brave too!! How many layers did he wear for the "Photo Shoot" ? Ron, is the snow down to sea level? I can see a little wind, that would bring the temperature down even lower. Take care on those slippery pathways. Greetings from Jean.p.s. our Central Otago had snow on January 1st, and this is our Summertime!!!
ReplyDeleteJean....layers?!.....Jim and I were discussing this the other day....I had 7 layers and he happened to have 6....these are thin layers (IceBreaker...yes)of course which also include coats....Layers can be removed so quickly especially having to go inside stores or restaurants.
DeleteYes....re:snow at sea level....of course it depends on whether the sun comes out and melts the snow away or the tide comes in and melts the snow....but snow is like sand here...all over the place and remains until the temperatures rise.
Being extra careful on the trails...no fun falling!!
I love how Sophie's tail is always wagging. she is so happy even in the icy weather.
ReplyDeleteTake care you don't slip Ron while you are filming.
As for polar dipping...!!!!!
Polar dipping.......nutty behaviour...me thinks!!
DeleteYes...the cold weather just invigorates Sophie so much!
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr - but you did manage to have fun, Sophie! We loved your video!
ReplyDeleteLove ya lots,
Mitch and Molly

DeleteHi to Fraser~~~Cheers Greenthumb
Wow Sophie your Bandstand looks just like ours. I had to do a double take. Have a terrific Thursday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Do you think that it came from the same mould? We have 2 of these~~~one here and one on the other side of the park. We enjoy them very much.
DeleteCheer!
Minus 24C?!? I guess I won't complain about starting our day at 8 today (it's now 13 and still climbing). Brrr!
ReplyDeleteI would love a +13C day....maybe in May......the mid-teens are my favourite temperatures. One thing with cold temps~~~~~no bugs, no humidity, no dawdling, no sweating~~~just keep a movin'!
DeleteCheers enjoy your beautiful weather.
Hi to Jerry!
i love the new blog handwriting. so cool.
ReplyDeletei need a coat. i am freezing looking at these shots. maybe a scarf too. brrr!! ( :
I'm enjoying the refreshing new look to the blog. New Year~~~~New Look!
DeleteA scarf just may be needed soon!
I think it's good luck for it to be bitchin' cold on your birthday, isn't it? Have a grand day, Ron!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Debra~~~~~63 is a good number according to all the astrological forecasts and such, especially the one in The Coast~~~our free rag here in town~~~~~~you'd like that paper!
DeleteHappy Birthday, Ron :))))! Have a grrrreat one :D!
ReplyDeleteBrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, so cold over there... Here we have +18° C. That´s for shure NOT NORMAL... HMPF! Sophie you are such a goofball... Hopping and hopping and hopping... You always put a smile on my face.
Happy New Year to you and your dads.

Delete+18C~~~~~~~WOW! I'd take that any day!
You know -24C is cold but it makes you move~~~no time to smell the flowers~~~what flowers?
It looks beautiful, but 11F sure is cold, my Mum is whinging again today as it's 32F this morning here in CA and she won't take me out yet until it warms up - doh!!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful New Year!!
Your pal Snoopy :)
32F~~~~~in CA~~~~~~is that for sure TRUE? I thought it was always warm there!!!Please be careful and don't catch a sniffle or anything.
DeleteHappy New Year!!!
We are freezing just thinking about it
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
Put on an extra scarfy or two!!!Did you hear me, now!!!?
DeleteHappy Birthday, Ron! I hope your entire day is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI thoroughly enjoyed the pictures Jim posted of you on his blog. The video was great - despite the cold, it looked like a gorgeous day in Halifax.
I read the California comment above. 32F in California is miserable! They don't construct houses for that kind of cold. When I first moved to California, I was shocked to find I was warmer in my home in winter Newfoundland than at home in winter California.
Sophie seems to thrive in it!
Thanks so much, Louise....another year another b'day~~~~"celebration time come on"~~~~sung to the song CELEBRATION by Kool and The Gang! Jim's sister Mim and dog Maggie showed up and we all went for a walk at the boardwalk, not as cold today.....thank the Lord~~~~~see folks I do pray! We walked, loads of fresh air, returned for Thai food and a chocolate mousse cake from Bonne Cuisine CLICK HERE Then we chatted, laughed and played with the dogs!
DeleteRe: the cold~~~~~yes Sophie loves the cold and playing with Maggie today was doubly fun.....the next 2 months should be a blast with winter in full swing.
Still am surprised about California....Jim's nephew lives in Redlands....I must ask him about his weather.
Oh thanks for the link, Sophie! Make my mouth water, and Bonne Cuisine is so far away! Chocolate mousse cake! Did you sneak a lick from a birthday plate or two? I know. I know - chocolate is bad for doggies, but our crackie Buddy used to love Smarties, and my scottie MacBeath once hunted down all the Easter bunny's treats while we were asleep - and ate them - and survived! Now I'm going to have to raid my secret hoard of frozen chocolate in the bottom of the freezer that I keep for emergencies like this! Like I said, thanks a lot, Sophie!
DeleteANY time Louise....Any time!
DeleteI always envy your beautiful walks and the beach, but today with the cold, I don't--But ask me later when I warm up from being outside with our own dogs! :-)
ReplyDeleteParadise can have it's ups and downs I guess...no matter where one lives! Sophie always gets me warmed up...she has it down to a science!
DeleteThat is VERY cold! Where do you live in Antarctica?
ReplyDeleteKeep Calm & Bark On,
Murphy & Stanley
One would believe we do live on that continent...only thing no penguins! Cheers!
Delete-11F definitely fits the definition of freakin' cold! Actually, I don't think I've ever experienced a temp that low.
ReplyDeleteand I believe you don't want to either....unless of course you are willing to put multi-layers on, then you can endure pretty much any temp!
DeleteHoly Moly, it is COLD there! The harbor photo is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHey Oz...do you think you could handle this weather? I'll assist if need help! I'm good that way!
DeleteOooh, it's really cold there. I'd be in a hurry to get back home where it's warm and cozy.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Ron! I hope you're having a great day!
Thanks so much Pat.....today have been chocolate mousse cake and Thai food....Sophie just sat and watched....not her style....oh well! We are inside, nice and warm now!
DeleteOh, my, that is really cold weather. Here I have been complaining because we dropped down to 5 degrees fahrenheit! Chucky dog doesn't care - he loves playing in the snow.
ReplyDeleteI swear I could smell the salt air looking at your picture of the bay. This Pisces misses the ocean living in the high desert...
Well...may I say you are more than WELCOME to visit my doodle world any time to smell some salt air and chew on some seaweed!!
DeleteHappy New Year !
Brrr! Good thing you had your fur coat on! heeheehee
ReplyDeleteThis time last year my coat was very short, so this year I am very grateful that the guys held off on my 1st 2013 cut!!!!
DeleteThat is COLD! Good job to you and Ron braving the cold and getting out for some fun! I'm glad that you didn't take a dip in the water :)
ReplyDeleteKB...I was worried that Sophie might take a dip...she has done it before...so I stayed well enough away from temptation!
DeleteHAPPY NEW YEAR to sweet Sophie !
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year my friends from northern Japan...So far away....such lovely country...I will enjoy your stories!!
DeleteRon and Sophie Doodle!
Boy I am so cold just looking at that snow and frigid water...Sophie you must truly love your walks,...and you Daddies of course. Happy New Year from our family to yours...
ReplyDeleteWell hello my Hawaiian friends....uhm.....is there room for us in your fair land.....pretty please!> winkers!
DeleteHAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone!!!!
That is cold! You are so lucky to have that fur coat, Sophie! But what about daddy Ron? Was he dressed in layers and more layers?
ReplyDeleteI most certainly was~~~~~ 7 layers approximately........man it was fr-fr-fr-freezing!
DeleteRon
