Early morning swim before Hurricane Earl arrives! or(ONLY PERRIER for ME!)

With the possible landfall of Hurricane Earl in the next 24 hours, we decided to take an early morning swim at our favourite spot on Conrad's Beach near the Lawrencetown River connection. Notice the clothes hanging all over the driftwood trees. I guess the guys don't want me to shake on them.

This spot is compared to a dog leg right is golf terms I guess. The ocean pours in, up the the river creating a pool area where I can safely swim for my ball. The guys did their lengths as in the '70's and '80's.

Yup, that's Jim, just had to make sure he was OK!

Now where's Ron. I really have to keep an eye on him. He likes to go out over his head.

Seems he was waiting to give me some water, Perrier no less. I'll drink anything after I've been swimming in salty water this much!

  1. I was wondering, Sophie, do you ever drink the salt water? I would suppose it wouldn't be good for you, are you careful not to get a mouthful? How about licking yourself after a swim, do you wait for somebody to rinse you off first?

    Looks like a fun morning!

  2. You are lucky that you got to go for a swim today! My mom says she's going to finally take me to Hampton Beach in NH tomorrow and I can't wait b/c I've never seen the ocean or high waves before! I never drank Perrier water either, by the way!

  4. Sharon...at first I drank scads of it and everything came out both ends. Now I slightly taste it and know better. I get rinsed after a good sandy swim in the ocean but don't after a lake swim. I guess sand on the living room floor is a no no!

Teacher's Pet...we drove to Hampton Bch some time ago...soo busy there. Be careful of the waves this w/e....Earl might swamp ya!

  8. Oh Sophie, you are so lucky to be drinking Perrier. Poor Gracie spent a long weekend at the kennel while we went to Ocean City and experienced a little of Earl's fury for ourselves. We were able to watch Gracie on a webcam which was nice. I have a feeling she'll be doing another post soon... she always feels sorry for herself when we leave her for a few days :-(

  10. The reports keep getting less ominous for Earl...category 1 with winds and rain. All depends on where the eye of teh storm hits land...some say Grand Manan Island near Maine...so anything east(us) gets wind with some rain and anything west(not us) gets a helluva lot more!

  11. We're waiting on Earl, too. Usually it's a lot of fuss about nothing, but sometimes it's not so it's good you made the most of your nice day. We're not too worried in general, but there's always the chance of losing power. That would give the humans nothing to do but pay attention to their dogs, so I'm not sure it would be ALL bad.

    lotsa licks, Lola

  12. Oh Sophie
I think you have the best dads in the world.
They take you swimming and hiking and play ball with you, and keep you safe.
I know you look out for them too.
I love looking at all your photos...so pretty.
Be careful, the storm is coming

  16. You're a lucky one, Sophie. Not many dogs enjoy hand-fed Perrier.
Looks like a nice swim. I'm glad Earl didn't cause any damage to your lovely beach.
