The Sand is Coming Back!!

I know when things start to change
in my world...

my beach becomes a little more friendlier

the winter beach covered in rocks...

(as you will see in the beginning of my video)
is starting to become more sand covered...

and smoother

making it much easier on my paws
for diving at Mr. Orangie
when he gets thrown down the beach.

We all know it's coming....!
SPRING ~~~ SUMMER
and
then I'll be in that water behind me
swimming and body surfing.

  4. Hey Sophie and Ron! I enjoyed this post and your video very much. The sound of waves falling on the shore is music to my ocean-hungry heart in this land-locked state! You were such a tease in the first part of the video, Sophie ~ coming close and dashing off! Ahh, but then I guess you succumbed to some pats and rubs! What a lucky and spoiled girl you are! Like you, I am thinking of spring and summer ~ and ke iki beach (my current favorite beach in the world)!

    1. I just googled your favourite beach ~~~ is it doggy-friendly? It has to be!

I love going to the beach, any beach with my Dads, as a matter of fact I probably would go with anybody ~~~ just try me!! You would be the perfect beach-friend I just know!

The sun is shining now at the end of the day ~~~ beautiful shadows and colours with a blue sky, green evergreens and sun splashing across... Love it!

      Hi to Terry!

    2. Hey, Sophie! Ke iki beach is very dog friendly! No cobbles (if you stay away from the lava rocks at the left end of the beach ~ looking toward the water), and it's warm! We would have so much fun on the beach together! Loved your description of the end of the day!

    3. Hey Sophie! When will I ever learn!? I had written a comment to you, and then I wiped it out before publishing it by going to images of ke iki beach! Aarrrgggg! Anyway, the beach is very doggie friendly! We would have a lot of fun there, especially if you brought Mr. Orangie. No cobbles or cold water ~ just gorgeous deep sand and warm water! Loved your description of the end of the day. Take care!

      and sometimes squishy

  9. Oh, fun! A sandy beach is much better on the paws than a rocky beach. We live near the beach, but it is closed to dogs most of the year--except in the winter, so it's always rocky when we go. But the dogs love it anyway.

    1. Hi Ho you 2 ~~~ it's been awhile ~~~ so hope everything super in your world!

I do not take my beaches for granted so I enjoy my jogs every time I go. So sorry you beach is closed to pooches ~~~ I know there is some like that around here. I just stay on the 3 close to me which have signs but all dog owners know how to deal with the restrictions.

      Happy Easter

  12. Our beaches just don't change all that much...it's always sand unless the hurricanes take it away...so this was really interesting for us to see

    1. SO glad you your beaches don't change too much ~~~ hurricanes have hit us a few times and they are way too SCARY WARY for worlds!

  13. Well, I learned something new! I didn't know that sand was seasonal in your area.

    1. The sand is at the mercy of the tides, particularly on Lawrencetown Beach in the above pictures. The churning and ferocity of the North Atlantic waves hauls the sand out to sea shifts it around like nobody's business, then deposits it in wherever ~~~ come spring.
The visits to the beach are always different so for a photographer and his doggy, well, new and interesting pictures can be captured. I truly love the never-ending change of our climate.

  16. So it's the strong winter currents which wash pebbles on to the beach and in spring the waves take them back out. Is that correct? Or did you have your Dads truck in tonnes of sand Sophie? :)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Actually, the 'strong winter currents' drag the sand out to sea, shift it around and drop it on the shore in the spring. The wave action can be super dangerous so we are very carefully with rogue waves. Now if you think my guys will haul anything anymore ~~~ as they say on an old TV show, you got another thin' comin'. The 60's are not being kind!
