Devil's Island Beware!

Are you afraid?
Yet!
Well you should be!
This little island located at the northeastern entrance of Halifax Harbour
is known to be haunted with plenty of ghost stories.
Here are a  COUPLE to get you started!
^just click^
I dare you!

I don't know about you but I'm staying in the car with Jim.
No way am I getting any closer to that island.

Back in the 1980's
Jim and Ron
rowed a boat with a friend, Anne
over to the island
to check it out.
As mentioned in the link below
apparently Devil's Island
was connected to a
Devol, Deval, Deville ( like Cruella from 101 Dalmatians )

I should have known that
doggies were involved somehow!

They told me it wasn't very far over,
but with all those ghost stories being told
they couldn't get back fast enough.

They haven't been back to this day.
I guess they must be 'scary cats' or 'afeared' or something worse!

In the summer when I'm on MacDonald Hill

just sitting around waiting for a photo shoot

if you squint your eyes and stare intently

you can see Devil's Island
on the horizon
all alone
dealing with  Mother Nature
and
the cloven hooved
apparition
residing on the island.

    1. After reading the history of the place, I just figured staying a fair distance would be prudent. Sophie wan not about to dart across the grass onto the beach and head over, she told me so!

      Winks!

Better yet get those paws ready
    And start digging steady
Go to oak island and find that treasure
The cat will help you spend it with pleasure

  4. Isn't there a retirement home for politicians on Devil's Island? If there isn't, there should be.

    1. I'm sure we could dig a HUGE hole to throw them into, Debra! Only thing is though, would there be any island remaining after all the holes we'd have to excavate!??

    1. Yah, traumatized and drooling ~~~ that sounds rather attractive ~~~ your hubby may not be willing to put up with you like that the rest of your days!

  8. My first thought was, "Oh, Sophie, grow a pair." But then I followed the links. I already have a pair and it didn't do ME any good!

    1. You know what, Mitch ~~~ some peeps think I DO have a pair because some say "gees your dog, he is very pushy" ~~~ or ~~~ "You dog, he sure is fast fetching that ball". So I could use this with any supernatural stuff on that island ~~~ just try me, Dads!

    1. Hi Majsan !!!!

Our country is very BIG! We live in a small province, not the smallest though, Prince Edward Island is the smallest.
I'm so glad you are learning a little bit about our culture and way of life near the ocean. We are very hardy and like to eat fish...oh yes, fish! Not to mention GHOST stories!!

      Have a great day

  10. Oh, SophieDoodle, that Cruella lady, she was very, very bad to dogs. You did right in staying close to daddy Jim. Now, I read your reply above, and I didn't know that PEI is a province. I thought it would be too small.

Have a look HERE INGER and you'll see some information on our country!
I think that I'd give Cruella a run for her money if she tried anything on me and my guys!!

  15. Well, Sophie, apart from the scary, scary island that you and Jim did well to avoid (!), I must say there are some fine photos of you in this post. That one of you in the summer running through the grass with Mr. Orange is a real winner. And, I did smile at the one of the two of you in the car. You both looked (quite properly) worried.

    1. Worry was written all over our faces mainly because Ron was outside of the car daring those supernaturals to just try something ~~~ he'd do anything for a photo that guy!
The photo on the hill in the grass was Daddy Jim's creation ~~~ he has such a great eye ~~~ and don't mean the one in the middle of his head(snicker)!
Looking forward to spring and many warm walks on the beaches, can't wait!

Hi Black Jack, Bill and Carole

Major east coast hugs for you all and of course a huge LICK!

  16. Sophie, if you are hiding we are too! Long way to row out Ron, especially with all the ghosts and don't mention CRU***A, she scares us... Aston is hiding already!
    Ivan and ...where's Aston gone?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Aston ~~~ move over pawlease ~~~ Madame Cruella just needs some space and then we can get her from behind ~~~ game on!!
Yes the row was somewhat tricky but we were 25 years younger and so much more fitter. It's funny how the story all came back when we decided to drive out to this place the other day. I had totally forgotten about it!
So glad the ghosts stayed on the island, no need of their foolishness over her eon the mainland!!

      Sophie with Ron assisting!
