Waiting for the Snow Storm

Life is coming to a standstill here in Nova Scotia tonight and all weekend.

Do you see that band of clouds on the horizon?

Well, it's the signal that a huge snow storm is arriving on our shores very soon,
in a matter of hours!

(my pre-snow storm jaunt to the beach as we wait patiently)

The amount of snow will be from 20 to 40 cm (7 - 15 inches)
with very high winds blowing all weekend.
Major drifts will result
and also freezing rain and ice pellets on top of this.
Needless to say there will be plenty of waiting
patiently as the roads are cleared.

I have my eye on the horizon and if the weather thinks
it's going to be super tricky with us (like power outages)....well,
it's got another think coming!

    1. We made it through the all the snow and winds....sitting here Sat morning waiting for a prepared (sort of) power outage. Our Power organization just called to warn us of an outage due to a car accident in our neighbourhood. This process is new to us because we are never forewarned usually it's just~~~~~BLACKNESS and COLD>>>>>>so we got the wash finished and dried and made some hot drinks and we are waiting.
Thanks for the concern and I so glad you liked my little video.
I'll do more in weeks to come.

    1. Hope a little harder Debra...we just got a call from Nova Scotia Power...there was a car accident near here and the crews will have to turn the power off at noon for an hour....minus 3 degrees here...so we are all bundles up and ready....BTW we have a propane stove so thanks for that smart thinking 10 years ago after Hurricane Juan walloped us!

  13. Stay warm and safe this weekend, Sophie! The storm is done with us. It stuck around all day yesterday and dumped a load of snow in our little city. I don't know what's made him so angry, but old man winter is stomping through. Hope he's not too nasty in your area!

    1. We made it safely through the night and just got a phone call from the Nova Scotia Power saying that our power would be out for an hour starting at noon. So....we are ready for it...this is so unusual to be forewarned...I could handle this procedure easily from now on... not that I want the power out every time we get some snow or winds but we can prfepar for the inevitable.
So glad you guys are safe and sound too!

  14. Stay safe, Sophie, I'm glad it doesn't look too bad for you. Samson Says: Sophie, now you can go outside and play in the snow. We only got two inches here and it soon melted, then we got some more, but not enough to roll around in.

You were waiting for her so patiently. Stay safe in the storm, and I hope that you take as good care of Ron and Jim as you do Mr. Orange. Terry and I are following everything on the weather channel.
