Along the Edge ~~~~

This is MacDonald Hill
(the same trail as my header picture above)

although the beauty of this vista is well-known here,
there is also a fear factor that needs to be heeded

down below are the courageous surfers
some would say ~~~ crazy ~~~ I would say daredevils

the edge doesn't phase me in the least
for I live on the edge

see what I mean by fear factor "edge"

it just gives me a thrill to tackle these hills
downward nosedive
and
back up the hill
as if it never happened

you'll see what I mean by walking along the edge
really it doesn't bother me

and at the end I always get my man
and a hug, of course!

  1. We don't really have hills here, right where we live. So we don't have to worry about falling off the edge. Looks like you just LOVE it.

You'd be OK here ~~~ I'd protect all 3 of you ~~~ no chance you'd go tumbling over the edge to never be seen again ~~ not a chance!

PS.....so sorry you couldn't see my video the other day! Were you ever able to? I have a YouTube site that you can join, you know, 'from sophie's view' ...I will do a post on it and then you can join...hope it works!

Sorry the poet in me just takes over!

Maybe it's because it IS very c-c-c-c-old out....the wind is outta control blowing the snow...but I'm inside and keeping warm!!

      Yeah!!

  3. Funny, of all the things that Shyla is afraid of, she's not afraid of literal edges. She teeters on edges, relying on her athletic body to save her. If only she could bring the same confidence to the rest of her life!

I adore your photos. The ocean in winter is sublime, especially when photographed by your dad.

    1. The edge is like a magnet for Sophie just like Shyla I'm sure ~~~~ trotting over to the edge front legs just grazing the perimeter ~~~ nose in the air and a huge sniff and few short ones ~~~ there everything has been surveyed and now we can proceed!
There is another edge/ledge ~~~ "fear factor" PLUS ~~~ located at the other end of Lawrencetown Beach up a hill that we've frequented many times over the years. This edge is much more vertical and treacherous ~~~ needless to say I'm very careful with Sophie there and myself as well.
KB....you are so kind with your comments...I do believe the feelings are mutual and I take great pleasure in saying that you are my inspiration!

  4. How about 'crazy' daredevils. Just being in that cold water earns them my respect!

Beautiful photos, Sophie. I cringed watching that video of you all up so high. And the weather certainly was warm. 7 degrees? That is definitely warm for us Canucks. We had that type of day yesterday and today it dropped to -15! February is such an unpredictable - insane - month!

    1. INSANITY ~~~~ that is the perfect word for FEBRUARY in CANUCKLAND!!!!!

As you are experiencing the same weather as we are ~~~~ blowing, cold, freezing, minus whatever and did I say brrrrrrr!

The surfers are a special breed ~~~ you can rest assured that if the weather is extreme they'll be there flipping, slicing and carving the wave

Check out these SURF WORDS WORDS

      Have fun!

  7. What a wonderful spot to go for a walk. I was a little worried when I saw that slumped sod down the hill! I might not be as brave as you, Sophie. I might have to walk a little farther from that edge! But waves, the ocean ~ magnificent! You're a lucky girl to walk in such a beautiful place. Jim looked like he was bundled up for the cold! I guess when you are by the ocean it's still a little raw! Happy sniffing and rolling this week, Sophie!

    1. "a liitle raw" ~~~ now that's putting it kindly, only this jaunt wasn't really as bitter as it has been all month ~~~ makes me think "spring" is creeping closer, ever so slowly. We had rain yesterday, so much, and today freezing cold...all the schools in the province are closed...kids are HAPPY!
The wind is so biting and cuts you like a knife....song again!!
Hope Black Hawk proved to monetarily a jackpot for you!!

Rest assured we are careful ~~~ we do noticed the amount of erosion caused by the North Atlantic winds and rains. Now relax and take a deep breath and get ready fro your journey here.

      Cheers!

  9. I really enjoy your trips up on MacDonald hill. This one sounds and looks quite breezy. Got a little worried about your cameraman along that edge. What kind of idiot wants to be out surfing now? Awesome views.

    1. Idiots abound in all facets of life ~~~ I thought you were going to say we were idiots for walking along the edge ~~~ I would have laughed at that for sure! We watch the path and the eroded area very closely ~~~ every year more soil breaks away ~~~ I just hope that we don't witness the end of MacDonald Hill someday ~~~ that would be a travesty!

    3. FB can be whatever you want it to be. You could post your blog posts on FB. Oh I imagine you know all this, and when you get started you'll never look back. 'Create a Page' might be a good angle to take ~~~ then people can just "like" your page ~~~ much easier for you! If you need any help just let me know ~~~ Sophie said if she can have a regular FB site then anyone can!!

    4. Hello Ron,
Thank you, you are right of course, I am very un-self promoting. I shall look into it (as I would use N/K name!). Truth is, I am more dubious to make contact with people from my 'old school days' was why I did not join before (LOL!)... My friend (L.C) keeps telling me to get on twitter also...
We both have stinking colds here, like you had the other week! Aston is looking after us!! hope you are all well.

    1. The edge must be respected ~~~ at all times! We are very careful, because erosion eats away more and more of the cliff every season, not just in winter. We have watched much of the forested point disappear in our 20 years of living here. SO sad, but that's Mother Nature ~~~ ever changing!

Must see if there is Video "Smell-O-Vision" so you can smell the salty air ~~~ wouldn't that be cool, Vicki!

      Hugs!!
