'BLUE SKY DAY' FEELING

'BLUESKYDAYFEELING'
Everyone has experienced this feeling.
I'm certain!

~ Even the surfers slicing through the chocolate waves ~

~ or carving under the edge of the wave
with white spray trailing off over the ocean ~

~ when hopping over the waves picking the perfect wave
hanging off the edge of the shoreline ~

'EXHILARATING' ~ check!

'SOUL RE-AFFIRMING' ~ check!

'GLAD TO BE ALIVE' ~ check!

I know you have been there!

Cheers!

SNOW ROMP !!

I figured you were wondering how things were in my snowy world!
Well, I awoke to a beautiful sunny day,
but a couple days later this snowy world descended upon us.

Enjoy my romp!!

Can't catch me,
even if you tried!!

LAND OF 40 WINKS !!

Today I was hearing from the guys
about this big rain and wind storm
called a nor'easter in these parts
traveling up the eastern seaboard of the U.S.A.
I got my walk in at MacDonald Hill,
visited Pops at the hospital,
had my breakfast and supper,
drove around in the backseat of my car surveying pretty much everything,
and
claimed my spot on my sofa
while the lights flickered
and the rains came pouring down.

When I wake up in the morning
(with paws crossed)
everything will be backed normal.

ZZZzzzzz ~~ later gators!!

NEW DISCOVERY PT.3

Well folks, you finally made it to the end of the boardwalk.
Trying a DOODLE'S PATIENCE
as all DOODLE OWNERS know
can be mighty difficult
to say the last.

OK then it looks like Jim knows what I want everyone to do,
so let's follow him.

I'm down here now!
It's only a few cobbles
Really!
Not that difficult to maneuver.

Gingerly!
Yup, that's my EVER-PATIENT DADDY JIM!
(pleading guilty Louise for borrowing your descriptive words)
The cobbles are numerous, on a major decline and slippery
but hey if I can manage them well ~~

even you could.
SMILE!
Someone has his camera on you!

This is the Cobble Beach that we found
in this ecosystem along our shoreline the other day.
We plan on returning when the waves are more conducive to surfing
because I just know it will be eye-popping.

Alas there's a surfer who passed us on our return to the car.
Late January in Nova Scotia
there are rugged people out there folks
who challenge themselves.
Maybe there's something you need to challenge.

NEW DISCOVERY PT. 2

OK then, back to my new discovery surprise.
Are you still with me?
I see that you are.

This is a very up close long range view
in front of me as I meander
out the boardwalk
at the first left-hand turn
that we meet.
The distant view is of MacDonald House
where my Daddy Jim
has his vintage Mid-Century Maniac Shop.
The white building on the left perched on that hill.

This is the first left-hand turn on the boardwalk
slightly topsy turvy just for fun.

The bog pond is frozen solid
perched above the Atlantic Ocean.

I thought about going on the ice
but the guys nixed that mighty quickly.
What's with them anyway?

On the return along this section I saw this dead tree trunk
which for all intents and purposes looks very much like a heron to me.
What do you think?

Jim is keeping an eye on me
because I am speedy as in DOODLE FAST.
(I am out of sight at this point which for some reason always bothers the guys).
~~
I smell a beach
well at least that is what it smells like to me.

More to come!

NEW DISCOVERY PT. 1

Hi Ho!
We have discovered a new "to us" boardwalk, trail
along an area where plenty of surfers surf.
This is the sign to the entrance
with plenty of information for all types of surfers.

Follow me and uhm,
H-U-R-R-YYYYYY!

There's always one straggler!
Always!

Jimbo, haven't you taken enough photos?
I know this one behind me (as in Daddy Ron)
is totally OCD about his photo-taking.
~~
Come on now
I have to show everyone this place!

Next time!

A QUICK DASH TO THE BOARDWALK

This past weekend let's you know what winter truly is like
in my neighbourhood. Getting ready takes a little longer
having to don my new coat which by the way
is the easiest jacket to put on.
VELCRO is the new ZIPPER of yesteryear.

I espied this YELLOW kayak
from the boardwalk and sniffed out
pretty much everything around this area.
Why would people tempt fate
when the temps are minus 18 Celsius?

Oh I do learn so much on my sojourns.
One thing that I have learned is that it takes
many to make our world go round.
Pretty boring if everything was the exact same.
Right !?! RIGHT!

Good evening everyone!
Stay safe and warm in your world.

WINTER'S GARDEN STROLL

Today being SUPER DOUPER DOODLE COLD
like minus 18 degrees celsius,
I only managed to see the garden
MY WINTER GARDEN.

So without further ado ~~

ENJOY !!

I'm off to another corner
because I know
MR. PHEASANT
is over here somewhere.

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT, SORT OF

You would be surprised at the little things that amuse one,
like learning to spell using the lights
of  a building at dusk.

Yep, that's my name written in the skies ~

using these lights one evening last September.

The other day when the sun was setting again ~

while sitting patiently in the car
I practiced my spelling again ~

with much more vigour.
I think I'm getting the hang of it.
Don't you?!

WINTER HAS ARRIVED

The cold winter winds have been blowing over our world for a while now
but today I found out just how cold it was.
While they caught up with all their blogging, facebooking, photo editing and
whatever social media that grabs their attention.
I 'zenned out' on my huge mammoth squeak toy
shaped like a giant marshmallow.
I then began staring at the guys
which means in Doodle language
"it's time to vacate the premises
and
go get some exercise".
Well, it took the usual amount of time to get ready
after the guys put on all their layers
and
I put on my PURPLE JACKET.

The roads were super icy
and
Daddy Jim said he had everything under control
~ not to worry.

We made it there safely
open the doors to brave the winds.
It was so cold,
a damp cold,
that chills the bones.

We began walking being vigilant of snow covered ice.
Heading for the beach to check out the waves as usual ~~

we noticed some odd snow covered grass.
The usual thin blades were clumped together with very thick snow.

Following the path along the dunes was the icing on the cake
so bitter the north winds
that we immediately headed back to the car.

Then it happened my front right paw froze.
A quick defrost moment and a marathon run to the car.
"Hurry let's go"
was all I heard.

Phew, that was a close one.
PURPLE BOOTIES next time
winter's unrelenting cold has arrived!!!

TIME TO READ

Last month I showed you, Daddy Jim looking way up the side
of this building. Apparently this is the new Halifax Central Library and my Dads
have been waiting for a very long time to get inside and read.

Finally this month, January they made the trek
parked their car
(third row from left, third car in line)
and
began their odyssey.

Inside on one of the many crossover thoroughfares
Jim began taking pictures of Daddy Ron
who was doing the exact same thing.
(This photo has overtones of Alex Colville's painting

The walls are covered with 1000's
 seriously,
of these library card creations.
What a cool idea.
I must find out more about this endeavour.

Look who's sitting and reading
Daddy Jim.
What are you so wrapped up in?
Hey, don't forget your glove
by your foot.

Behind Daddy Jim is the architectural school, Sexton campus
merged with Dalhousie University in 1997.
In the 1980's, the school was called
and
Daddy Ron managed an art and drafting supply store
very nearby,
so spent a lot of time
selling architectural supplies to many students over the years.
The name may have changed but everything about it
seems so much the same.

Quickly below the third floor
a person with cell scoots by
ducking into the building
to avoid the winter winds.

Jim really has found a magazine
that grabs his attention ~

 then without warning
up the stairs to the top floor
a few pictures
a whiff of coffee all around ~

back down the flights of stairs
passing one of the librarians' desks
to the parked car ~

and home,
but picking me up at daycare,
dropping off at MacDonald House
and
the hill for a quick dance
with Mr. Orangie and Daddy Jim.
I can't tell who's more excited
Can you?
