REMEMBERING

As Mr. Orangie floats aimlessly at the foot of this wave,
my attention is solely placed in this spot
the tension mounts as the wave crests
not knowing whether I'll capture my friend
or if something will happen to change everything.

The wave comes crashing down
leaving white froth all around
surrounding me as far as the eye can see.

Every time I run into the water
these thoughts slip through my mind
ever present
Will my life change today?
Will I be different from yesterday?

I am strong !

Life changed for everyone 12 years ago.
Life has become more careful and vigilant.
I am careful everyday
and
hope you are too.

~~

Namaste to all !
Love and hugs to all !

  6. Hugs back to you and your dads! I love the picture of you: "I am strong!" Thank you for remembering 9/11. It is something I will never forget. It's beyond comprehension. I saw the second plane fly into the south tower on the TV in our bathroom. That's the moment Terry and I knew it was a terrorist attack and that the first one was not some terrible accident. Terry's sister Noreen had just flown out of Boston shortly before Atta's flight left. She was on her way back to Kuala Lumpur after leaving her son Kevin at boarding school for the first time. It was a scary time for everyone. My sister Donnie who was a lawyer at a law firm in Calgary had a colleague killed in one of the towers that day. It's amazing how many people all over the world had a connection to 9/11. All the people lining up to donate blood, and nobody showing to get it. Canadians really stepped up to the plate to help stranded passengers ~ especially in Gander, NF! Such love and compassion in contrast to such horror and insanity.

So you'll see we were very busy that week as well. Everyone was affected in some degree or other. So give Terry a BIG HUG and then give him another ~~~ feels good doesn't it!

      Love to all

  11. I wasn't even born then, but Mom says she remembers it like it was yesterday. She says she remembers how clear and blue the sky was, with no jet streams to be seen anywhere.

    1. Yes my Dads say the exact same thing.

We had so many planes land at our airport then busing so many passengers to places in our city to take care of them.

So much caring and love spread around at that time!!

  12. A perfect analogy, Sophie. None of knows which day will change everything for us, forever more. We all have our "personal days" that we remember. For me, it was the day that my dog was murdered by a gun and then I was held at gunpoint when I was a young adult with my first dog. That day made me realize that even the most benign and beautiful Saturday can change a person forever.

For the "collective us", it was Sept 11. I shall never forget.

    1. PEACE and SERENITY every day is what I receive from your posts. The mountains / the skies / the colours / the DOF / the LOVE of LIFE / your DOGS / your narrative makes me feel relaxed and calm.
I hope you are able to deal with your horrendous experiences and put those into a place neatly tucked away.
Your smiles the other day with Shyla really said a lot KB.

      All the best as always!

    1. Yes, Chris !!

We have to be positive in this time and as long as we are held close and feel supported and loved then we can think rationally, thus come to a better understanding of our humanity!
