HIGHLAND CATTLE wannabee, that's me!

Around the bend in the road we pressed leaving the town
after a quick jaunt to the Valley.
We needed to  replenish our stores of veggies, jams, honey and bulk apples
and this is what was waiting for us on this corner field.

Highland cattle grazing not paying much attention to us
as Ron quietly exited the car and began taking photos.

The profiles of these two are really quite beautiful and majestic
with the shaggy manes and the protruding horns.

Closer up, just look at these amazing eye lashes!

I get the feeling these two are an item.
What do you think?

This super shaggy younger one was off munching
without any notice on me looking
from my perch in the backseat of my car.

Gees, all I need is some horns!
I do feel a kinship of some sort.
Just call me ~~
a Highland Cattle Wannabee!

FOLLOW ME!

Sauntering along through the park
as we always do
on our return trip to our car ~~~

Just up ahead
to the left around the corner

Look what we found!

Our attention has been seized.
A rain storm went through recently
which obviously played havoc with some trees
that were weak and ready to fall.

It took a few days for a removal of sorts
with the trunk scooched over
to the side of the path way.
The park uses natural decomposition
by using this log as a nursing log
for all the critters/insects
that feed in the park.

I do love the smell of freshly sawn wood ~~~
Don't you, my friends!?

OUR NEW LIBRARY

Dreaming, I'm day dreaming again.

This is our new library
which is slowly becoming a beautiful modern building
before our very eyes.

Unusual design
by
international architects
and locally

That tree has my attention!
I figured the tree would be felled,
but lo and behold
it is mirrored in the glass.
Love it!

The sky, the tree, the bird flying over head,
everything seems to be as one.

The mammoth cranes are still lifting and manouevring
the materials that are coming together
for the opening in May 2014.

This video is self-explanatory
giving you a full range view
of this beautiful piece of architecture.

I guess I'm not day dreaming afterall,
because it is right in front of me.
Can't wait to sniff
on the sidewalk
along side those enormous windows.

Sweet Spot of Serenity

With the time change freshly under our belt for a week now,
I figured I'd slip out into the garden and dig up a bone or two.

I use camouflage under this prostrate larch tree
with plenty of ground underneath
to bury my treasures.

No one would even think of discovering
my delectables under these innocent little larch cones.

My bones cache is hiding unsuspectingly near our chimes
and Buddhist prayer flags.

I think I'm pretty clever ~~~

if only I could find them!!!

REMEMBRANCE 2013

and this year I have expanded on his accomplishments.

Always willing to take a moment for the photo op,
even in wartime.

With his buddies of 73 Squadron
in the North African desert
during the charge on Rommel's forces

With his buddies in the 443 Squadron
in Britain in January 1944

Leaning against his plane
as he served duties taking him to Normandy and Arnhem

Nothing was showing in the cards
nothing made obvious
as Dad played football at Acadia University
in 1939.
#8 in the back row
was about to embark upon
a hero's voyage.
Life takes it's journey
and Dad knew he had his journey to follow.
My brother, Mike and I are very proud
of our father
and
hold onto these pictures and stories
with much honour and respect.

THE DUCKS ARE ON THE POND

Near the end of my park walk today
Ron decided that he was going to
the Public Gardens to capture
a few pictures of the ducks on the pond.

Nothing at this end
other than some very interesting moving reflections
which he told me was caused by
some ducks
just to the right.

Yes, the ducks were very much at home
cruising around
looking for food and companionship,
if you know what I mean.

Three males and one busy female
^music break^

Life is very tranquil most of the time
but occasionally excitement ensues
and off the ducks paddle.

This tranquil moment is for you
(but be assured, yesterday's video of ducks frantically
swimming after the lady was really good,
but Ron deleted the video by mistake)

Outside one of the gates
after visiting the gardens
we saw a lone bicycle,
I'm sure s/he had a very serene visit,
lucky duck!!

WATERFALL

This waterfall is in my backyard.

This is an Acer Palmatum "Waterfall" variety

I am very fond of this lacey leafed Japanese Maple because

I cool off under it in the hot humid summers
and
enjoy a respite after running around the yard
during the other seasons.

This is my favourite shrub mostly because it's my size
and will always be my size!!
