Autumn Canal Swim

Our sojourn to the Valley
always leads us to the Gaspereau Canal....
Why... you ask?
Well, if you love
COLOUR
and
CONTRAST
then you'll understand.

Wending my way through fields of asters
to fetch you know who.

I love colour and contrast just as much as anyone else,
just read on and you'll see.

Now if I were to dive into that water
this painting would be destroyed...

so I let Daddy Jim snap picture after picture

This is what he saw while I foraged in the grass,
the sun striking across the roadway ahead
and bathing the trees.

Now just look at these colours just as I enter the canal.
They look like oil or acrylic...I really like these!
(especially because my blond hi-lites are so well emphasized)

Hey my tail appears to be acting up,
almost acting like a paint brush...
now that gives me an idea.

Exiting the brown, blue and greys
into the field of goldens and greens

so I hope you enjoyed my visit with colours
and with autumn screeching around the corner
the intensity will increase...
mark my words!

Mim and Maggie

(click for a memory refresh)
~~~we're down here~~~
come on
please throw the stick!
Thank you, Lord.... she has a strong arm!
Now the guys can play with their cameras...
never stopped them before!
Dive....Leap....Maggie!
Perfection!
Life is sharing...boats of sharing!
 I am so happy today....nothing unusual about that, really!
Even Daddy Jim was happy....
he took courtesy
Mr. Parasurfing-Kitesurfer Guy!
Life throws curves at us all
and taking the time
to relax and soak up
the surroundings....
is a remedy that seems to always work...
if not help some.
Thanks Maggie and Mim
I think you both will sleep well tonight!
Just a 90 Minute Ride!
I learned so much while vacationing
on PEI this year.
Sit, stay
 and
you'll get Mr. Orangie!
(check under Daddy Jim's foot)
I learned that if I point my ears
like Spock
I can zero in on Daddy Jim...
Also, that sand dunes are beautiful
but  there wasn't  a chance of reaching them
because that blue water near the rocks
was a channel with a hefty current.
I could run literally for miles(kms)
along the shoreline without needing to stop...ever!
That mounds of seaweed aren't a deterrent
at all
it just adds to the discovery
of  stick people.
and that shadows can make really cool pictures
(is Daddy Ron holding me up by my hind legs?)
We decided to take the ferry home
from PEI to Nova Scotia.
The weather was picture perfect
blue skies with wisps of white clouds
however the water was rolling a bit
and some people were making a big deal of it.
"Is it always this rough?"
was the most common question.
Does it look rough?
Not really.
The ladders were all  rolled up ready to be deployed if need be.
The 90 minute ride was over
faster than you spell
Daddy Jimbo hunkered down
for a well-deserved photo session...
and didn't let the rocking and rolling
bother him in the least.
All this...!
while
I just snoozed away
down on the car deck
without a care in the world.
Dreaming of Prince Edward Island....!
Now this is a sunset!
Hurricane Leslie definitely churned her way
passed PEI the following day after our arrival.
Which made really no difference to me,
because Mr. Orangie can float and I can see him like a beacon.
The sun was setting rather quickly this evening,
I suspect it always does
but it just seemed so fast for what I'm used to.
See what I mean....Mr. Orangie is always visible it seems.
I took advantage of the descending light...
and made sure I was going to sleep well tonight.
PEI...seems to have an ethereal feeling
whether travelling the roads
or galloping through the warm waters along the shoreline.
This evening was very special as Jim and I sauntered along the sands....
the sun's rays were smothering the land
while I smelled the seaweed and Jim captured this view.
Sometimes you just have to watch
and let the words melt into the horizon.
Patience Payoff
This is what greeted me when we arrived on the island....
My cousin, Shelby was head over heels
HAPPY
now that she had someone to fetch with....
Shelby had gone to Nova Scotia
for a few days,
 so when I arrived on PEI
I had to practice
~~~patience~~~
Do you know what that's like?!

I practiced on this beach....

and this beach

near these windbreaks

and in the back seat of the car
as we passed this Belgian.

I even entertained Daddy Jim
and Auntie Marilyn...
I guess they were amused.

As you can see Shelby and I really know
how to have a good time.
Give us a lawn and a ball
and doggy camaraderie
is reinforced.

and you know what....?
I didn't forget how to play our summer game
even if a couple toys got mangled.

Thanks Shelby
You Prairie Girls
are the best!
