The Duke

This is my new friend Duke,
a Doberman
who is only 4 months old.

 He took a shining to my new yellow ball
so I figured this would be a learning moment  for Duke.

 As you can see,
the ball never left his mouth
and I figured that's OK
sharing was the point of all this.

I played coy and ignored Duke many times.

 Alas, Duke was too young to realize
that he was supposed to give up the ball
every now and again!

So we shared and played
until his Daddy had to go home.
I really hope to run into Duke again.
He had a great demeanor.

Forest Bathing....Shinrin-Yoku

Did you know that the Japanese
have a saying for the therapeutic effect
of walking or bathing in the forest air
~~~ Shinrin-Yoku ~~~
helps promote relaxation
and rejuvenation of the mind, spirit and body.
Since I visit  the park and/or the woods near the beaches daily,
I know exactly what Shinrin-Yoku means.
My suggestion would be for everyone to find the time
to take a walk in the nearest
 forest or woods
and breath in the air and bathe in the smells
 of the living trees, mosses, fallen trees,
bushes, needles, berries
and whatever you can find on your journey.
Then, and only then,
will you have an understanding  of
Shinrin-Yuko.
Windy Nor'easter!
So, we headed down to Lawrencetown beach to check out the winds.
 I was excited and invigorated....
 seriously...the temperature was coolish (my fave) and the winds were constant
I was in my element...once again!
 The sun peeked through..even with the dark clouds flying across the sky
 and the sand was churning through the waves.
I would say this nor'easter really was
the doggy's woof
or
the cat's meow!
Hurricane Season is Only 1/2 Over!
 Hurricane Irene (1)
Hurricane Irene (2)
 Hurricane Katia (1)
Hurricane Katia (2)
 Hurricane Maria (1)
Hurricane Maria (2)
 Hurricane Ophelia (1)
Hurricane Ophelia (2)
Yes, the hurricane season has been blowing through leaving us
with absolutely beautiful wave action and scenery,
 again and again
I love this wild life
Mother Nature
offers us
every year.
However, tonight we are going to
experience the beginning of a nor'easter, a weather bomb.
The rain will explode on us very soon.
We are hunkering down with fingers crossed
that we don't have any basement leaks.
We haven't had one since 1996 when
Hurricane Hortense blew through.
Here goes.....!
Liquid Refreshment!
 Since I live very close to the ocean,
the chances are that
visiting the beach,
any beach
will happen
daily.
 Sometimes I will take a couple minutes
before I enter the water.
I guess it depends on
whether I want to cool off,
 or have a sip,
just kidding
salty ocean water
is a
no-no
I learned that
mighty quickly
a couple years ago
when I arrived at the beach
and proceeded to avail myself of the liquid refreshment.
 later that night
"yowie zowie"
it came out both ends.
 So now I wait until I get into the car
or get back home before I quench my thirst.
 Such is the drinking life of a doodle on the east coast of Canada.
Now let's see,
Is there any fresh water here?
nope
none here
what is this that I see in the water, anyway?
