Firstly, I want to thank everyone who commented on my Daddy Ron's FB page.
Sunday was a bit hair raising(pun intended)!
Snow on ice makes for a notoriously unfavourable mix.
Whipped up and spun around,
leaving me in the back seat wondering what happened.
Since Daddy Ron couldn't get a whole lot of pictures
because he was a bit shaken up,
I told him he could use some old ones.
~~~Ones of me in the car on much more pleasant occasions~~~
How many Doodles can say they survived a 360?
Well, I know I can!
I may have had to sit on a 45 degree angles seat for over 1.5 hours,
at least we are safe and sound.
Thanks to Mary Taplin for arriving to save me.
I love my car seat and I hope these pictures give you some idea
how attached I am to it.
I can't leave you two alone for a second!! So happy you are both OK!
ReplyDeleteI hear ya Loud and Clear!
DeleteHi Y'all!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear everyone is safe!
Want to thank you, Sophie, for explaining why my Human hates snow and freezing rain so much.
Y'all come back now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Anytime Hawk...just ask...and I'll provide!! winkers!
DeleteGosh Sophie! That is so frightening! I'm glad you and your Dad are all right. :) You're right.. sometimes the right (or wrong) amounts of snow and rain and ice are a BAD combo. Hugs from out west!
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling the warm hugs, Mary....many thanks!
Deleteglad u r ok Sophie. i must ask is ur car ok? a doodle has 2 have car 2 get around u know. ha. ha. be safe & sound please. doodle hugs. (:
ReplyDeleteHi BethDoodle....my DoodleBug is just fine...how come? you ask! LUCK pure luck! The car has already been on the road the next day now...more snow and rain! Will it ever end!
DeleteHoly Moley! So glad you are ok.
ReplyDeleteJust tired and a bit rattled, Lori!!!
DeleteHope you are both OK and travelling safely now.
ReplyDeleteMuch more attentive now, GT!!!!
DeleteSafe, what a wonderful word, I am so thankful you are both OK, shaken, that might be an understatement, Hope the tow vehicle managed well, Take care, b oth of you, ALL of you in these scvary road conditions. Greetings from Jean p.s. Sophie, when you sit in the seat, in winter, do not have a very large meal beforehand!!!
ReplyDeleteJean....can you just imagine if Sophie did have a huge meal...not a pretty sight for sure! I ended up with 2, yes two tow trucks over 3.5 hours trying to budge me out of the ditch. Every time they tried to lever me out...their trucks would start sliding...I just stood there looking in amazement. I knew this was going to take some time. Over 80% of the people driving by wanting to help!! I have such faith in humans now!!
DeleteMissed that, gotta go look!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are both ok!
ReplyDeleteLICK!
thanks Sharon!
DeleteWhoa! Spinarama! Glad it all turned out okay.
ReplyDeleteI wee bit jangled...or should I say a lot jangled!
DeleteOMG! Thank God you two are okay! I've got to get back on Facebook! A 360 - yikes! Snow on ice scares the heck out of me! What a beginning to your seventh year, Sophie! Hope the rest of it is less of a spin!
ReplyDeleteI've only had 1 other accident that was in 2002 which totaled my car. I've been very vigilant ever since...over vigilant Jim would say with flashbacks popping up every now and again....so when this 360 moment happened yesterday, as I type, I was ...huh...what happened.....pissed is an understatement! I'm alive that's the important thing...the roads are super slippery this year so from now on...I have my ice-beware antennae in full spectrum checking all the roads. I had to pick up Sophie at the daycare a couple hours ago...and I said to myself...keep off the ice and drive on the pavement even if it's on the other side of the road...so I did being careful about any vehicles coming. I managed and now I'm home, sitting here and feeling much calmer. Thanks for your concern.
DeleteRon
Hi Ron!
DeleteI'm glad that you are feeling calmer! I don't know if I'd be pissed or totally overwhelmed with gratitude.
Alive is awesome for both of you!
Several serious accidents (as a passenger) have made me way beyond over vigilant.
I don't know if I'll ever be a carefree and relaxed driver.
I still can't really drive freeways, but I can get around the long way.
After about five minutes on a highway, I can start getting panic attacks!
In my next life I wan to be an Indy 500 driver and subdue this ridiculous fear of driving!
Ice is the worst!
Oh Sophie, how scary!!! We're so glad you are BOTH well.
ReplyDeleteXXXOOO Daisy, Bella & roxy
We have to be well because we have to BLOG!!!
DeleteRIGHT!!!!
Yes, at least you are safe and sound. That's what's important. Cars can be replaced but you can't! I am so glad you're both okay. Lots of hugs to both of you!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so thankful that we got through it unscathed and totally amazed that the car was OK too!
DeleteLife throwing curves again!
Oh, my dogness! I'm so glad you all are OK. How scary.
ReplyDeleteHey Sage...we are fine...just a little rattled...I hope you'll be careful when you are on any slippery roads!!
DeleteWe are glad everything turned out OK!! After we saw the photo it looked even more scary! Good thing you were in a car seat. That road looked terrible! (We wear seat belts when we ride in our pawrent's vehicles.) Stay warm, stay safe, and stay off that road!
ReplyDeleteYour Birfday Doodle Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
I am listening Murphy and Stanley...all these kind comments mean a lot.
DeleteNOW>>>>>>>How was your birthday? That's what's important right?!!!!!
Cheers!
Hello Ron and Sophie,
ReplyDeleteYou poor things, that's very scary just skidding or sliding a bit... but a whole doodle turn and to end up in a ditch, is a shaking experience! Hope you are both feeling better?
Mean Mr.Ice!
Ivan :-(
You are so right, Mean Mr. Ice and Snow and Rain and.....!
DeleteI got home safely while Sophie was gathered up and taken to daycare. My worry was the weather temps dropping...I got home before that.
Now we both are relaxing...Sophie sleeping!
Ron
OMD you two. I'm glad you're both OK!!
DeleteOh No! Hope you are all okay and that you rescued the car too.
ReplyDeleteCar is safe and unscathed...Sophie is now tired from daycare and Ron is relaxing with some Zzzzzzzz's.....soon!
DeleteHey Girl! I'm thinking of you and Daddy Ron this morning and hoping you aren't too bruised and achy. Sometimes the day after is rougher than the day of the scare. But now that you've survived, you've got a great story! How many have gone through a 360 and get to yarn about it? You be safe today!
ReplyDeleteHi Louise....the 360 story is but the beginning of a very LONG sojourn of 24 hours! You see, Jim had an appointment at the hospital for Monday 8 a.m. and he was wondering if the car was going to be OK to get him there. The car was fine BUT...a BIG BUT....the rains stopped in the middle of the night and turned to snow again....oh man...someone is out to get us this weekend. ANYWAY, long story short...we got up at 5 a.m. and headed out and made it to the hospital before the main doors opened. We sat in emerg for awhile. We eventually got in and got through the appointment. February has gone from Cheers with Sophie's 6th to nays with the 360 and more snow. Now we are resting and rejuvenating.
DeleteThanks for dropping by again.
Take care!
Oh my goodness, Sophie! I hope everyone is okay. You are definitely the only dog I know that has survived a 360. Be careful out there on that icy stuff.
ReplyDeleteI will for sure OZ....be ever vigilant whenever you need be!!
DeleteOh gosh!!! THats common here when slippery roads. I have my dogs in a safe accident cage. It will stand for car crashes. Its very tested and you got a discount on your insurance if you have it.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.mim.se/
Check the homepage and video from the crash tests, interesting.
How very smart! Canada I don't think is as progressive as Sweden in this respect. Thanks for your concern and showing me the link!
DeleteTake good care of yourself and the doggies!!
I just read the North American website for this product. This is very nice such a sturdy and safe looking cage.
DeleteAgain thanks!
So sorry I don't keep up very well some days on Facebook, and so glad you're both alright! I love that you use a car seat (and I'm not at all surprised). We always worry when we see dogs not safely strapped in in moving cars. Now I'm off to Facebook to check for other updates.
ReplyDeleteHi Mitch....thanks for dropping by....we are really Ok...just a little rattled because I had a memory flash of an accident I had in 2002....thought I was over that....no such luck I guess. Sophie was panting a lot but I let her relax in the car by herself until our friend Mary arrived to retrieve her and take her to daycare! I didn't want to bring her out of the car while we were waiting for the tow trucks( yes 2 trucks). The road was so icy underneath the snow that the tow trucks kept slipping as they made their winches and lever concoctions. I can see where physics would be useful here....weird things I realize sometimes.
DeleteAnyway, we are all home now and resting.
Ron
So glad you are all OK. Mama said she has done a few of those, mostly in her wild younger days!
ReplyDelete360's in a parking lot, even 720's are way cool back in dem younger years....but seeking a supercharge thrill now is blogging....I've changed...and life is change, right!
DeleteThat must have been really scary! Thank goodness you are both okay!
ReplyDeleteYes Pat...it happened so quickly yet almost in slow motion....I can recall ever nuance as we spun and careened into the ditch. I am SO thankful that Sophie is OK and I am not banged up. As I type I look out our living room window at eh blue skies, light white fluffies , super white birch trees and Sophie snuggling on the sun drenched floor. Only way to go is forward and with strength that one can manage with the help of others.
DeleteThat's a terrifyingly excellent picture of the car of the side of a very snowy road. I've done two 360's in N.B. and one in Quebec that I still remember with a quiver of fear. I know I said it on facebook, but must repeat here, "I'm so-o-o-o happy you are all okay!
ReplyDeleteWe are relaxing now, Carol....this 360 was a memory trigger for my accident of 2002. I was on my way home from work in the fog, early in Dec. I had made it passed the 1/2 way mark and all I could think of was 'home soon' supper and snooze! Then....someone drove out in front of me and game over... totaled my car, ER, airbag injury(thankfully) and a few weeks off work. Everytime I drove passed that spot...I cold feel myself tensing up. I forced myself to take the drive as often as I could. 10 years later and this 360 and it all floods back. I am taking it easy and recovering. One step at a time!
DeleteRon
Holy cow!!! How scary! I'm so glad you are okay! Lots of r&r for you.
ReplyDeleteTrying to get the R & R in, Terry...been so busy since the accident....however today I'm crashing!!
DeleteRon
Just so happy you are all safe. How scary!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Eileen....this weekend passed was a wild one....NOW it seems another storm is going to whack us this weekend coming up.....DID WE DO SOMETHING WRONG!!?
DeleteRon
OMG! Just catching up,I've been gone. Glad all is well! How scary for you all. Be safe.
ReplyDeleteWe are chillaxin' now and being EXTRASUPERCAREFUL all the time.....SUPERVIGILANT.....can be so exhausting!!!!
